Bear Claws

They looked and smelled so good…
I was picking up an order of donut holes when I noticed a batch of bear claw pastries cooking. If you are an advocate for eating correctly, I apologize for my unhealthy fall from the wagon of good health.
I couldn’t help but comment to the worker, “Those bear claws look so good!” She responded, “Wait just a minute…”
She walked over to those brown, greasy, sizzling pastries and pulled a big, delicious, warm bear claw out of the fryer. She wrapped it up and, with a smile on her face, said, “Here you go, it’s on the house. See you again soon!”
In today’s culture of self-preservation and the “What’s in it for me?” mindset, the donut lady’s unsolicited gift was refreshing.
It was also a reminder that leadership sometimes requires us to give a little extra.
Because of her little extra gift of a wonderful bear claw, the donut lady insured that I would visit her shop again soon.
Choose to give beyond what is expected, and you will make a difference!
