Snow Day causes Women-only Senate

Last week, snowstorm Jonas crippled the east coast, hitting Washington D.C. particularly hard. Most people were stranded at home, unable to commute to their jobs. For example, out of the 100 members of the US Senate, 83 did not show of for work.

What’s interesting to note is that of the Senators that did make it in, all of them were women. Every single one.

Senator Lisa Murkowski of Alaska praised her female colleagues for braving the conditions: “As we convene this morning, you look around the chamber, the presiding officer is female. All of our parliamentarians are female. Our floor managers are female. All of our pages are female…”
