Gen. Lori Robinson has been nominated to head the U.S. Northern Command (NORTHCOM). If her nomination is confirmed by the Senate, it would make her the first woman to lead a combatant command in Pentagon history.
Robinson will replace Adm. Bill Gortney who has held the position since December 2014. Since October 2014, Robinson has been Commander of Pacific Air Forces at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam in Hawaii. With this assignment, Robinson became the first U.S. female four-star to command combat forces.
