A Great Leader

I live in the South. Here we make a big deal out of Easter. This past Sunday the churches were full, families came together and were fed, and life slowed down just a bit as we took the time to honor the greatest leader who ever lived.

I realize that other religions and faiths may not celebrate or appreciate this religious holiday, but the impact of this leader is without question felt worldwide.

We live in a time when heroes are few, our world is threatened from multiple arenas, and our lives are becoming more self-centered by the minute. It appears that we don’t have a clue about what we need or what a true leader even looks like. With that thought in mind, here are a few of the attributes of the greatest leader:

  • He was humble yet incredibly strong.

  • He was collaborative yet certain, with decisiveness.

  • He was aware of social needs, yet committed to his vision and purpose.

  • He was friendly and approachable, yet determined and driven.

  • He constantly took the focus off of himself, yet was willing to own the importance of his role.

  • He invested in his team, yet held each one to high accountability.

  • He led by example, yet stayed connected to those who followed.

  • He carried a huge responsibility, yet demonstrated servant leadership.

No matter what you may think about religion or faith, there is no doubt that we can learn much from this great leader of men and women. His name is Jesus, and to me, He is more than a leader… He is the Difference Maker.
