Senseless

I am interrupting my normal Leadership Moment because of the tragic incident that occurred this past Saturday night in Orlando, Florida.
While all of the details are not conclusive, it appears that a terrorist attacked and killed 50 people and injured at least that many more. I invite you to join me in praying for the families of those who were murdered and for those who are wounded.
It appears that we as a nation are experiencing more senseless acts of violence than ever before. While we cannot control the minds or behaviors of those who are filled with hate and violence, we can do something.
It is the responsibility of every leader to take a stand against evil. It is the responsibility of every leader to join our voices and our strength to stand against such incredibly despicable acts. This is our country; these are our cities, our families, and our homes. We cannot be cowered into retreat when deranged, evil-minded individuals threaten our communities.
Freedom comes with a price. Leaders in the past have laid down their lives so that we can enjoy the privileges of living in a free nation. Freedom may not be our right, but it our responsibility to protect and keep. As we enter into this volatile political season, it is vital that we, as leaders, stand and speak into the lives of those within our circle of influence. We cannot tolerate violence that threatens the very core of who we are as a nation.
This is not about a religion or a political party. It is about evil. It is time for leaders from all walks of life to choose not to tolerate senseless violence in our country. Together, we will make a difference.
