In this truly incredible display of sportsmanship, leadership, and selfless brotherly love, Alistair Brownlee helped his little brother Jonny Brownlee win second place in the 2016 Triathlon World Series in Mexico.
Jonny had led the pack for almost the entire triathlon, but in the final stretch, he was showing obvious signs of heat stroke from the punishing Mexican humidity. Overtaken by the second place runner, disoriented, and staggering, Jonny was about to give up when his brother Alistair ran up in the third place position.
Alistair threw Jonny's arm over his shoulder and helped him finish the last half kilometer, and then proceeded to push him over the finish line first, giving Jonny second place and taking third for himself.
Jonny received medical assistance immediately upon finishing the race and has made a full recovery.
It goes to show that sibling love transcends sibling rivalry, and Alistair demonstrates that true leadership and sacrifice has the ability to inspire us all.
We wish the best to the Brownlee brothers and their continued success!
